HB 883 passes out of the Health and Human Services Committee today

Posted 2 days ago by Vicky Stone-Gale

HB 883, the PMHNP Autonomous practice bill successfully passed out of the Health and Human Services committee today with a vote of 23 Yays and 3 Nays!! It is a great accomplishment for us to get this out of committee. Many thanks to Dr. Monica Barfield (Port St. Joe) and Dr. Tom Schlepko (Miami) who testified on behalf of the bill and to Representative Jason Shoaf and our amazing FNPN (Florida Nurse Practitioner Network) lobbyist Allison Carvajal. These two individuals worked relentlessly with the legislators on a daily basis to discuss the need for autonomous practice for PMHNP's. Without their presence in Tallahassee and their persistence this bill could have had a different outcome.

This is exactly why we encourage all of our members to join FNPN, your top notch state organization with a boots-on-the-ground lobbyist that is in the Capitol everyday working for you. We can never allow ourselves to go backward--only forward and she is the one that works to keep our profession moving forward. When you ask where your money goes in the organization--this is where it goes!! To support a lobbyist that protects your profession from losing ground!.

If you are not a member of FNPN join now so we can continue our fight moving forward. We are on the home stretch for PMHNP Autonomous practice and we still have more work to do!!
