Attendance at virtual and in person meetings
Posted about 4 years ago by Vicky Stone-Gale
Since the start of Covid we have been trying to offer our members a monthly CEU lecture on various topics if possible. We encourage and appreciate our members registering for these lectures and supporting our speakers. Unfortunately, we have had issues with the number of individuals signing up but then not attending the lectures. We usually have around 45-50 sign up but only 14-15 actually attend the event. This does not look well for our organization in the eyes of a speaker and is embarrassing for the organization. This past Saturday we hosted a free writing seminar for our members in person at Tropical Acres restaurant. In spite of numerous email requests to please cancel if you could not attend, we had 65 individuals signed up--only 17 (including the speakers) actually came. This event was not sponsored by a pharmaceutical company, but instead came out of the SFCAPN budget, therefore requiring us to pay for 48 breakfast and lunch meals for non-attendees in the amount of $1800.00.
It is unsettling to the Board that this is occuring and we want to be able to continue to offer events in the future. We encourage all that do register to please attend or cancel if you are not able to. This is a professional expectation of all members.
We also are not able to provide you with CEU credits if you did not attend the entire virtual or in person presentation. Zoom documents an entrance time for the virtual lectures and we are required to document full attendance time for all attendees in order to register your information in CE Broker.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions. Thank yoiu for your continued support of the council.
