Vicky Stone-Gale

Vicky Stone-Gale DNP, APRN, FNP-C, MSN, FAANP, FNAP

President

Dr. Stone-Gale is President and a founding member of the South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses and has remained actively involved in the council since its inception 28 years ago. She has also served as Ways & Means Chair and First V.P. of the council in previous years. She received her diploma in nursing in 1984 from Massillon Community Hospital School of Nursing in Massillon, Ohio, and her BSN from Barry University in 1990. She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the area since graduation from Barry University with her MSN in 1992.

Vicky received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in May 2011 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed coursework towards her Ph.D. at UAB. She is an Associate Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner at Frontier Nursing University and also continues to practice in primary care in Plantation. She is double board-certified by the ANCC and AANP. She is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Florida Nurses Association, is actively involved with NP legislation and was appointed by Governor Bush to serve on the Florida Board of Nursing which she did for four years, serving as Chair for the BON, Chair of the Advanced Practice Committee, member of the Legislative Committee and the Credentialing Committee. She serves as Chair of the North Probable Cause panel and was appointed to the Controlled Substance formulary committee of the Florida Board of Nursing and the Council for APRN Autonomous Practice in Florida. Dr. Stone-Gale is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and a Fellow of National Academies of Practice. She is a member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, Florida Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Florida Nurse Practitioner Network, Florida Coalition for Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Stone-Gale has been involved as a Research Coordinator and Sub-Investigator in many clinical research trials and has been awarded Broward County Nurse Practitioner of the Year on 5 occasions and Broward County Nurse of the Year. She has served on the Family Nurse Practitioner Expert Panel for ANCC and has been a member of the speaker's bureau for numerous pharmaceutical companies.

She is committed to the success of the organization and strives to get NP's involved in the legislative issues that affect their practice. Her goal is to increase ARNP membership of the council, educate NP's on the need for their involvement in their professional practice issues, be a legislative liaison for the council, and provide an opportunity for members to network and grow in their profession.

Terri Focaracci

Terri Focaracci APRN-BC

Terri is Vice President and a Founding Member of the South Florida Council of the Advanced Practice Nurses and has remained active in the Council since its inception. In the past she served in a Nominating Committee Member role as well as Nominating Committee Chair.

Terri graduated from the University of Florida in 1976 with a BS in Psychology and continued her education at the University of Miami where she graduated in 1986 with a BSN and in 1990 with her MSN, FNP, ARNP (now referred to as APRN).  She is Board Certified in Family Practice, by ANCC since graduation in 1990.

Terri practiced for 23 years in  Nephrology and for 8 years in an Infectious Disease practice in North Palm Beach.  She has managed adult internal medicine patients with renal disease, transplants and all modalities of dialysis. She is a past Director and Owner/Partner of Clinical Research in Nephrology and served in roles as both Principal and Sub-Investigator. She recently retired from providing coverage at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center for an Infectious Disease Practice as well retired as a provider of Integrated Dialysis Care at several Davita clinics in Palm Beach. She has also participated in the speaker's Bureau for several Pharmaceutical Houses.   She is currently acting as a Sub- investigator with Care Access, a DRO, working on clinical drug trials with major Pharmaceutical Houses.

She has been active in the past in the Guardian Ad Litem Program for the Broward County Judicial Court System as an advocate for those without a voice. Likewise, she has always fostered a community of support for current and upcoming Nurse Practitioners and has worked towards increasing access to care through the legislative process, in particular as regards Controlled Substance privileges and the current goal of Independent Practice. Her goal for this Council is to provide educational and networking opportunities as a means of support for other NP's who will play a big part in the future of healthcare.

Cheryl Greenberg

Cheryl Greenberg MSN, APRN-BC

Treasurer

Cheryl graduated from the University of Florida with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from Florida International University in 1996 with her Master of Science in Nursing. She is nationally board certified by the AANP as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She worked as a staff nurse at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for 9 years in Surgical/Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, and Open Heart. She was Co-director of a Congestive Heart Failure Program within a large cardiology group where she practiced both general and preventative cardiology. She then worked for Braver and Braver MD P.A. as an internal med/critical care pulmonary NP. For almost 10 years she practiced with Dr. Michael Hirsch Family Medicine in Pembroke Pines before joining Dr. Todd Kazdan in Weston Florida where she currently practices. 

Cheryl has been a member of the South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses for over 20 years where she has held various board positions and is currently Treasurer. She also serves as the Council's alternate representative for the Florida Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses.

Sally Weiss

Sally Weiss EdD, APRN, FNP-C, CNE, ANEF

I have been a nurse for over 40 years and a nurse educator for 35 years. My teaching experience includes associate degree, pre-licensure baccalaureate, RN to BSN and graduate programs. During this time, I taught in both traditional, ground-based programs and online settings. I was instrumental in creating the first online program for Paramedics-RNs in the early 1990s, which later expanded to an LPN to RN program. In 2003, along with a colleague, I founded the Nova Southeastern University nursing program. I received my BSN from American University in Washington, my MSN in community health and administration from the University of Miami, my doctorate in higher education from Florida International University and a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Herzing University. I hold the coveted Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and in 2010 was inducted as a Fellow into the National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education. My clinical expertise is in neuroscience nursing; however, I developed an interest in immunological disorders and presently I work in a private rheumatology practice once a week. My personal interests include outdoor activities such as canoeing and white- water rafting, and horseback riding. For quiet and relaxation, I enjoy reading mystery and spy novels. I am married, have two adult children and three grandchildren. 

Tal Raizer

Tal Raizer DNP, FNP

Tal Raizer is a Doctor of Nursing Practice with special training in Orthopedics and aesthetics. She completed her Bachelors in Economics at Boston University in 2009. She then completed her Bachelors in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University in 2011. She went on to work in emergency and ICU nursing for 5 years before she completed her Masters in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015 from Old Dominion University. She then went on to work in Orthopedics at Atlantic Orthopedics in Virginia Beach, VA where she got training in joint conditions as well as general orthopedics. She relocated to south Florida due her husband’s military career. After a long career in orthopedics and treating MSK conditions with plasma, she transitioned to becoming a practice owner and is in the process of opening up a medical spa focused on regenerative medicine. She is also an adjunct faculty at NOVA Southeastern University where she enjoys teaching future nurse practitioners. She lives in South Florida with her husband and two kids and enjoys traveling, cooking and running. 

Stefanie La Manna

Stefanie La Manna PhD, MPH, APRN, FNP-C, AGACNP-BC

Dr. Stefanie La Manna is an Associate Professor and the Interim Dean at Nova Southeastern University-Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing. Dr. La Manna received her undergraduate degree from Barry University as well as her master’s in science in nursing, with a concentration as a family nurse practitioner, and a Ph.D. in Nursing from Barry University. She completed a post-masters as a gerontology adult acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania. She is dually certified as a family nurse practitioner and an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.  Dr. La Manna also holds a master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology.

In addition, Dr. La Manna has 22 years of experience as an advanced practice registered nurse, and actively practices in internal medicine and infectious diseases.  Dr. La Manna is active in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty and serves as the faculty and preceptor resource committee chair.

She has authored chapters in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Q&A Review 1st and 2nd editions. She was involved in developing the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN’s) COVID-19 Pulmonary and Ventilator Care Micro-Credential, launched in September 2020.

She has received multiple local, regional, and national awards for her contributions to the profession of nursing and has presented nationally and internationally on various academic and clinical topics. Dr. La Manna’s most recent recognition was in the Sun Sentinel 2022 Nurse Honoree “Sun Sentinel Celebrating Nurses”.

Katherine Mendez

Katherine Mendez APRN, FNP-C

Katherine has been a nurse since 2010 after completing her Bachelor’s in Barry University. She was immediately hired at Aventura Hospital to work on a Med Surg/Tele floor. After her first year as a registered nurse, she was nominated by her director to climb the clinical ladder and she started precepting new students. She became a board certified med surg nurse with ANCC while at Aventura hospital and during her 7 years working there she was a preceptor for over 40 students.

She graduated with her Master’s from Barry University in 2016 and quickly began to work as a Family Nurse practitioner in an Internal Medicine office.  She became a member of South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses as a NP student back in 2015 and currently serves as Chair of the Education Committee.  In April 2021, Katherine finally decided to open her own telehealth business, Jerimum Wellness, where she focuses on treating uninsured patients and those who just want healthcare access beyond what their health insurance covers.

Today, she continues working in private practice, manage her own business and is currently enrolled in the DNP program at Florida International University. She continues to precept at least 5 NP students a year. In her spare time, Katherine loves to visit neighborhood coffee shops, continue to learn Texas Hold em' Poker and spend quality time with family.

Faith Tuzon

Faith Tuzon MSN FNP-BC

Faith Tuzon is assertive, determined, and intentional about anything she encounters to accomplish. She is from the Philippines, the 8th child of a Pastor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from a Bible College in the Philippines. She came to the United States in 1987. It was in her favor of having a caring heart. Although she did not have any background in healthcare, she took the challenge to go to Nursing school.

She graduated from Miami Dade College with Associate Degree in Nursing (Accelerated Option). She worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital for a total of 6 years. She found herself aspiring for a more challenging job, so she applied at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She worked in the ICU for 17 years. She took a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Barry University in Miami, Florida. After realizing that she has more skills and talents to offer in her career, she pursued her education in Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner at South University. She currently works with the Kidney/Kidney Pancreas Transplant team at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

On her days off, she volunteers at a church in Miami, Florida as a First Responder. She did presentations on Hypertension and Diabetes management to a group of men and women. Faith is a Board member of the South Florida Council of Advance Practice Nurses with the Community Outreach Committee, which is now merged with the Education Committee. Through this organization, Faith was privileged to serve on different community health fairs, workshops/presentations on Obesity, and other healthcare issues. Faith volunteered for some Back To School Bash at a church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Marlene Chance

Marlene Chance APRN, FNP-BC, PhD, EJD, FAANP

Pinky is a founding member of the SFCAPN and remains as an Honorary member after her retirement in 2022. She is a Fellow for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) and was inducted in March 2016. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Graduate Nurse Degree, completed her BSN from the Florida International University, and an MSN in the Family Nurse Practitioner Track at Barry University, where she received the Outstanding Graduate Research Award. She earned her Ph.D. in Health Administration from Kennedy Western University and an Executive Juris Doctor Degree from the Concord University Law School in Los Angeles. There, she received the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2003 and 2004, and the Award of Academic Excellence and Award for Outstanding Legal Writing in 2005.

Pinky has served numerous professional and civic organizations and has been honored with awards of distinction for excellence in clinical education, and her exemplary voluntary service to the community. In 2013, she was the recipient of the highest and most prestigious JV Sotejo Medallion of Honor Nursing Award from the University of the Philippines Nursing Alumni International, for her outstanding contribution to the profession, country, and humanity. She has chaired the Education Committees for the Philippine Nurses Association of South Florida and the National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and Youth since 1992, where she spearheaded and continues to plan and organize annual continuing education programs for licensed professional nurses.
