Vicky Stone-Gale, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC
President
Vicky is a founding member and Past President of the SFCAPN and has remained actively involved in the council since its inception 17 years ago. She has also served as Ways & Means Chair and First V.P. of the council in previous years. She received her diploma in 1984 from Massillon Community Hospital School of Nursing in Massillon, Ohio, and her BSN from Barry University in 1990. She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the area since graduation from Barry University with her MSN in 1992. Vicky received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree May 2011 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as is currently an Assistant Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Nova Southeastern University and also continues to practice in primary care. She is Board certified by the ANCC and AANP. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Florida Nurses Association, is actively involved with NP legislation and was appointed by Governor Bush to serve on the Florida Board of Nursing which she did for four years, serving as Chair for the BON, Chair of the Advanced Practice Committee, member of the Legislative committee and the Credentialing committee.
Vicky has been involved as a Research Coordinator and Sub-Investigator in many clinical research trials and has been awarded Broward County Nurse Practitioner of the Year on 5 occasions and Broward County Nurse of the Year in 1996. She has served on the Family Nurse Practitioner Expert Panel for ANCC and has been a member of the speakers bureau for numerous phamraceutical companies.
She is committed to the success of the organization and strives to get NP's involved in the legislative issues that affect their practice. Her goal is to increase ARNP membership of the council, educate NP's on the need for their involvement in their professional practice issues and provide an opportunity for members to network and learn from each other.
Terry Focaracci, ARNP
First Vice President
Terry graduated from the University of Florida in 1976 with a BS in Psychology and continued her education at the University of Miami where she graduated in 1986 with a BSN and in 1990 with her MSN, ARNP. She is Board Certified in Family Practice.
Terry has practiced for the last 22 years in a Nephrology in West Broward, Coral Springs and Boca Raton. She manages adult internal medicine patients, renal disease, transplants and all phases of dialysis. Currently she is Director of Clinical Research at the same practice where she handles all aspects of clinical research. Terry is one of the founding members of the SFCAPN and has held various Board positions through-out the years. Currently she is Chair of the Nominating and Education Committee.
Cheryl Greenberg, ARNP
Treasurer
Cheryl graduated from the University of Florida in 1988 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from Florida International University in 1996 with her Masters of Science in Nursing. She worked as a staff nurse at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for 10 years in Surgical/Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, and Open Heart. She was Co-director of a Congestive Heart Failure Program within a large cardiology group where she practiced both general and preventative cardiology. She is currently working with Braver and Braver P.A. as an internal med/pulmonary NP. Cheryl has been a member of the SFCAPN for 15 years and has held various board positions. She is currently the Treasurer. She has mentored several NP students and enjoys spending time with her patients and their families.
Pinky Chance, MSN, PhD, JD, FNP-BC
Secretary
Founding Member of the SFCAPN and continues to serve as Board Member and Secretary. Pinky graduated from the University of the Philippines with a BS Pre-Med and Graduate Nurse Degree in 1975. She completed her MSN in the Family Nurse Practitioner track at Barry University in 1992, PhD in Health Administration at Kennedy Western University in 1999, and and a Jurist Doctoral Degree in December 2005 from Concord University School of Law. Recent awards include a Distinguished Scholar List at Concord School of Law in 2003 and 2004 and award of Academic Excellence in in 2005. In addition, Pinky received an Award of Excellence in Clinical Research given by the Philippine Nurses' Association of America on July 10, 2004 in Hawaii.
Pinky has won clinical research grant awards as a primary investigator and author of "Pharmacologic Treatment of Depression in Cancer Patients in Primary Care" for Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001,and "Non-hormonal Alternatives for the Control of Hot Flashes in Postmenopausal Women on Raloxifene Therapy" for Eli Lilly in 2002. She is presently a principal investigator for numerous clinical research studies.
Pinky is an appointed member of the Expert Panel Committee of the American Nurses Credentialing Committee, has been the chairperson of the Educational Committee of the Philippine Nurses' Association of South Florida since 1992 and is a member of the Research Committee of FIU School of Nursing.
Jennifer Stone, DNP, MSN, FNP-CD
Nominating Committee Chair
Jennifer graduated in 2001 from Broward College with her ADN and in 2004 from Nova Southeastern University with her BSN. She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Urology and Retail Health since graduating with her MSN, FNP in 2007 from Barry University. Jennifer received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree May 2011 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as is currently an Assistant Professor in the DNP program at Nova Southeastern University, and also continues to practice in Retail health. She is Board certified in Family Practice by the ANCC.
Jennifer has been a member of the Florida Nurses Association since 2000, recently becoming a Legislative District Coordinator, and has been a member of the SFCAPN since being a NP student herself.
Robin Petit, ARNP
Special Events/Education Committee
Robin graduated from Broward Community College in 1980 with her Associate degree in Nursing. She subsequently graduated from Florida Atlantic University with her BSN/BSHA , and MSN in Family Nursing. In 2000 she completed a post-graduate certification program for her ARNP. She has worked with children and adults in a Family Practice clinic and has recently retired from the position of Coordinator, Clinical Education at Broward Health d/b/a North Broward Hospital District. Robin has been an active member of the South Florida Council of Advance Practice Nurses since 2001 holding positions as member of the Nominating and Education Committee, 1st Vice President , President, and Special Events/Education Committee. She has enjoyed working with the Board of Directors and more recently working to provided the Continuing Education hours meeting all the requirements of the Florida Board of Nursing and CE Broker. Robin is running to continue in a leadership position on the Board serving on the Special Events/Education Committee.
Hector P Cintron, MSN, ARNP, GNP-C, CWCN
Special Events/Education Committee
Hector graduated from Broward Community College with his Associates Degree in 2000 and from Florida Atlantic University MSN program in 2004. Hector is board certified Geriatric NP and Certified Wound Care Nurse. Hector is currently enrolled at FAU in the Post Masters Certificate Program in the FNP tract.
Hector has worked in a variety of settings including hospital based cardiac care, SNF/ALF/Office based geriatric care and home/clinic based advanced wound care. Hector currently works for a large Medical Group here in South Florida providing Primary Care in the home. His practice focuses on chronically ill patients who are often homebound or unable to make the required visits to the office setting.
Hector is a member of Florida Nurses Association, serving on the Leadership council of the newly formed South Region (Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties). Hector has been active in the FNA’s restructuring process over the past 2 years and continues to be active in the FNA. Hector has been a member of SFCAPN since 2005 and looks forward to serving on the council board.
Hector is a native New Yorker, growing up on Long Island. In 1979 he traded the beaches of Long Island and the cold of New York for the warm beaches of South Florida.
